Terrell, TX
Northspur is located in Terrell, Texas, which is a suburb of the DFW metroplex. Terrell was developed as a railroad town in 1873 along the Texas and Pacific Railroad Company’s new transcontinental line from Longview to California. The railroad town grew rapidly incorporated in 1874 and became the headquarters of one of the nation’s most prosperous short-line railroads in the 1890s. Terrell became the commercial center of the county, with people coming downtown to sell and trade crops. By 1920, the Terrell State Hospital was the largest facility of its kind west of the Mississippi. During World War II, a British Flight Training School opened in town. The airfield and its buildings help contribute to the industrial diversification that Terrell has today.
Today, the town is 20 square miles, with a population of just over 17,000 people. Our community is located just off of Highway 80 and 557 in northern Kaufman County. It is conveniently located about 32 miles east of Dallas.
